Hunchun's winters are harsh and long, with temperatures often plummeting below -20°C in January and February. As the seasons transition into spring, temperatures gradually rise, reaching averages around 0°C by March and 10°C by May. Summer brings warm days, with July being the hottest month, but even then temperatures rarely exceed 35°C. Autumn is mild, with temperatures dropping back to around 0°C by November, before another cold winter sets in. The temperature fluctuations are quite pronounced throughout the year, with significant diurnal variations and occasional extreme drops or spikes.
